5 Habits That Undermine the Health of Your Skin and Hair

We don’t know what we don’t know right? So in this blog we are going to reveal some of the ways you may be accidentally sabotaging the health of your hair and skin without even realizing it. Maybe you’re really disciplined with your beauty routine, heck you probably even buy really expensive products; but guess what? You might not be aware of some of these common skin care and hair care mistakes. Before you buy your next beauty product consider keeping these facts in mind

1. Not Hydrating Enough

Okay, you’ve heard it over and over. Drink more water. But hydration is not just about that. It’s about the other stuff you’re drinking too. Did you know that drinking alcohol, soda and coffee will dehydrate your skin and hair?

  1. All those late night dinners & parties; drinking the night away cause your hair to get weak, brittle and more prone to split ends. Too much alcohol triggers a zinc deficiency in the body which is connected to hair loss.
  2. When it comes to soda we know that it’s mostly made of sugar. And high sugar content slows hydration. Your body needs more time to process sugars so it takes water away from other places in your body to break down the sugar.
  3. You may love the laxative effect and energy boost from coffee but unfortunately all that caffeine is just making your skin even more dehydrated. Think of switching coffee for green tea or herbal tea.

Naturally it wouldn’t be realistic to completely give up on your favorite drinks so just know the consequences of these behaviors in case you think you are doing everything right but still scratching your head and asking yourself; why does my skin look dull and dehydrated?

2. Not Sanitizing Your Mobile Phone

Our mobile phone is full of bacteria. A recent study found more than 17,000 bacterial genes are on the phones of high school students. Scientists at the University of Arizona have found that cell phones carry 10 times more bacteria than most toilet seats. Yes, mam! Seriously, how gross is that? So if you’re wondering why you may be breaking out in the area where you press your phone against your face, well, this may be why. Take the time to use anti-bacterial wipes, or a Kleenex with some hand sanitizer and keep that cell phone germ free

3. Using too many different skincare lines

Are you mixing too many different brands into your skincare routine? Are you constantly using all those free samples too? That can lead to your skin going crazy on you. With too much variety it is difficult to decipher which product is causing an allergic reaction or a sensitivity issue

You see products from the same line are formulated to be used with one another or layered over one another in a way as to not interfere with the effectiveness of the ingredients of the different products. Think serum and moisturizer. By using a natural product line like Pure Fiji you can enjoy peace of mind of knowing that all your products are working harmoniously with each other and your skin. Plus it’s so much easier to shop in one place isn’t it?

4. Not Moisturizing Oily Skin

So you’re thinking, if I have oily skin, why add more oil? First, a moisturizer is not oil. Second, regardless of what your skin type is you need a moisturizer that will hydrate your skin. It’s crucial that even oily skin gets moisturized because without it your skin will overcompensate for the loss of hydration and that can lead to breakouts or uneven skin texture

Pure Fiji’s Hydrating Multi Active Day Creme is the perfect choice for all skin types. It’s a revolutionary hydrating day crème that will dramatically boost hydration by increasing cellular water flow as well as moisture holding potential. This crème is naturally supercharged with dilo leaf and beach almond leaf hydrosol, essential nutrients, vitamins and invigorating plant actives. Boost your skin's own processes to reduce wrinkles, and protect against DNA oxidation while improving elasticity and tonicity.

5. Shampooing Everyday

With the summer season around the corner you may be tempted to shampoo more than you should. For starters shampooing every day can strip your hair of natural beneficial oils, making your hair drier and prone to breakage. In addition, you’re wasting money from your last coloring session. Toners eventually wash out and the best way to preserve your color and avoid that brassiness is to shampoo less. Bottom line; only shampoo your hair when it’s oily and greasy. Make sure your shampoo is sulphate-free like Pure Fiji’s Coconut Milk Shampoo because sulphates can fade colour and cause hair to become brittle.

Many people are blessed with beautiful skin and hair. While some claim they don’t do much or some say they swear by the latest products recommended by estheticians the truth is everyone is different. What may work for others may not necessarily work for you. By avoiding these common mistakes and sticking to one natural skin care product line like Pure Fiji you will see improvements in your skin
